What to look for in a second-hand Hilux

Despite the Hilux’s durability, it’s important to keep a check on the following when purchasing one second-hand.  

Have a thorough check of the engine. 

The Hilux is available in both diesel and petrol. This means each variant comes with its own possible issues. If a diesel goes without a service for a long period of time, the engine may fall into disrepair. If the car has a clean service history, that is great. If not, it may be best to keep looking. Another thing to keep an eye on is if the engine feels sluggish upon acceleration. If so, it could indicate an issue with the fuel pump which could turn out to be a large and costly fix.  

Be careful of modifications.
