The Dealer Demo Dilemma – What to Look for in a Demo Toyota

Like the idea of a Dealer Demo? Know what to look for in a Demo Toyota

So, you’re in the market for a new car and you’ve come across a dealer demo in our Toyota showroom. If you have your heart set on a new car, you may have passed it by. On the other hand, if you’re chasing a bargain, you might have thought it would be out of your price range.

But before you buy your new vehicle, it’s worth taking the time to understand what a dealer demo is, the benefits this option offers and, if you decide to buy a demo Toyota, how to choose one that suits your requirements.

What is a dealer demonstrator car?

A demo is a near-new car offered for sale through a car dealership. These cars usually have very low odometer readings.

All new car dealerships have a selection of the latest and most popular new car models in their showrooms. These are used to show prospective buyers (you!) what the car looks like and how it handles on the road.

Dealership sales staff are also encouraged to get a feel for the vehicles in the showroom so that when you come to them for advice on your new purchase, they know exactly what they have to offer you.

In some cases, a demo may be driven onto the showroom floor, never to move until you drive it away!

Why choose a dealer demonstrator over a brand-new car?

There’s nothing like the feeling of driving a brand-new car off the lot, knowing that you’ve worked hard and rewarded yourself for it.

If you love the way a new car feels (not to mention the fantastic new car smell), you may wonder what a demo car has to offer.

Since demos have low kilometres, are usually driven for short distances and are cared for attentively, they usually retain the look and feel of a new car. And if you really want that new car feel, ask about a showroom demo – some of which may have only done 50km!

Choosing a demo car is the best of both worlds, an almost new car at a fantastic discount.

Why choose a dealer demo over a used car?

If you’d rather not splash out on a new car, you may think that a used car is the way to go.

It’s worth taking the time to have a look at the demo cars on offer before making your decision, however. This is because demo cars offer many of the benefits of a new car, such as more comprehensive warranties (check this with your dealer before purchase), without the price tag.

What are the benefits of buying a dealer demo?

To sum up, the benefits of a demo car are:

  • New car feel
  • A bargain price
  • Low kilometres on the odometer
  • Some or all of the new car warranty
  • A well cared for near-new car

Do Toyota demo cars come with a full warranty?

The warranty on a demo starts when the car is first registered, not when collected.

How often do demos come up?

Dealers typically always have showroom stock available, so demo cars are available more often than you’d expect.

If you’re keen to buy a newly released Toyota model, come into the dealership two to three months after its release to find out what we have coming up.
