TOYOTA CONNECTED SERVICES DELIVERS GREATER SAFETY AND SECURITY FUNCTIONALITY 

Did you know that Toyota Connected Services (TCS) is now available on new LandCruiser 300, HiLux, Fortuner, Granvia, HiAce, Yaris Cross and Camry models? So what does this mean for vehicle owners, and how do our valued Ken Mills Toyota Guests ensure they are benefiting from the safety and security features offered by Toyota Connect Services? 


WHAT IS TOYOTA CONNECTED SERVICES (TCS)

Toyota has expanded the availability and functionality of its advanced Toyota Connected Services1 (TCS) technology, delivering greater peace of mind and enhanced convenience to even more customers. The new TCS features are now available on the all-new LandCruiser 300 Series, HiLux, Fortuner, Yaris Cross, Camry, Granvia, and HiAce. The new features and functionality have been developed and extensively tested for each specific model. 

There are heaps of additional, cutting edge, really cool tech functions, but they aren't all available across each model. For example the Granvia has the whole range of TCS safety and security features; where as HiLux has everything except recent trips, drive pulse, window status, bonnet status and vehicle alert/Forgotten notification. See the complete table, by model below. 


So we know that this new technology is available but what advantages does is it offer our guests, and is it worthwhile installing the myToyota Connect app to access the cutting edge tech?


MYTOYOTA CONNECT APP

The updated TCS system allows guests to remotely access a variety of information from their smartphone such as fuel level, recent trip data and vehicle location, via the myToyota Connect app5. Owners are also able to, remotely check a variety of vehicle status information including odometer, fuel level, remaining range6 and vehicle location. TCS can also provide information on the status7 of doors, lights, windows, and keys and provide push notifications8 if the owner has left the lights on, forgotten to lock the car, or close the windows. How cool is that.

Fortuners built after 1 July 2021 are compatible with myToyota Connect app and TCS.

MORE TECH
Trip data, such as time and distance travelled, as well as a "drive pulse"9 that measures acceleration, braking and cornering speeds provides drivers with a score, designed to help them improve their driving efficiency10, are also available on some models. Another handy feature, for vehicles that have multiple drivers, is the ability for owners to remotely set particular limits for each driver such as speed, location or time and receive notifications8 if these parameters are breached or the engine is started. How handy is that feature especially, if you have young, inexperienced drivers at the wheel. 


SAFETY TECHNOLOGY

TCS offers safety features including automatic collision notification2 (ACN), SOS emergency call3, and stolen vehicle tracking4 (SVT) for the all-new LandCruiser 300 Series, HiLux, Fortuner, Yaris Cross, Camry, Granvia, and HiAce. From a safety perspective, TCS can automatically generate an emergency call2 to a 24/7 Toyota emergency call centre and relay the location of the vehicle, in the event of a collision requiring intervention or where an airbag is deployed.

Emergency assistance can also be manually requested by a vehicle occupant via an SOS button3, while if the vehicle is reported stolen, the system can assist authorities to help track the vehicle's location through the stolen vehicle tracking (SVT)4 function.

Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said the expansion of Toyota Connected Services demonstrated Toyota's commitment to delivering the very latest advanced technologies to as many customers as possible. "The launch of Toyota Connected Services in Australia saw us able to provide our customers in the small SUV segment with advanced connected safety features," Mr Hanley said. "This expansion into more vehicles is another step in harnessing advanced connected technologies that not only help to deliver safer vehicles, but an enhanced ownership experience," he said.

EXISTING CAMRY AND YARIS CROSS GUESTS + NEW HILUX, FORTUNER, LC300, GRANVIA AND HIACE (BUILT FROM 1 JULY 2021) CAN NOW DOWNLOAD THE LATEST VERSION OF THE MYTOYOTA CONNECT APP AVAILABLE FOR APPLE IPHONE®11 AND ANDROID™12  SMARTPHONES. TO ACCESS THE NEW FUNCTIONALITY.

Buyers of eligible vehicles will be treated to three years of complimentary TCS functionality from the date of delivery, after which an extension will be optional.
